This Hot Topics issue welcomes to Switzerland four colleagues joining the schools of chemistry of ETH Zürich, EPF Lausanne and the University of Geneva as full professors. The four articles highlight recent developments in fields as varied as catalysis, chirality, in situ spectroscopy, nanomaterials, natural product synthesis, new organic transformations and potentiometric/optical sensors.
